Why the silence over AWEMA?

I know its recess, the August bank holiday weekend is a few days away, AWEMA has been wound up and the Wales Audit Office report on the Welsh Government’s relations with the charity isn't due till the autumn, but is that reason enough for so little reaction, political or otherwise to the damming verdicts in the two AWEMA employment tribunals held over the summer?

Are two highly critical verdicts of the conduct and management of the former Chief Executive Nas Malik and Chair Dr Rita Austin involving unfair dismissal and sexual harassment while running a tax payer funded organisation with links to the governing party not worth commenting on?

Perhaps I’m in a minority and the majority are satisfied the scandal has reached it’s natural conclusion, but given the outcry from the public, politicians and the media when the scandal broke at the beginning of the year it's all to predictable this latest sorry episode in Welsh public life is simply fading from view with no real answers or accountability while the Welsh political circus moves on to Autumn conferences and reheated debate over the Welsh NHS.

The employment tribunals were serious affairs, but the meatier stuff will likely be in that WAO report you mention. It looks as though Naz Malik will have to pay the compensation himself.

I also want to know which Welsh Government minister(s) signed off cheques to AWEMA after the initial warnings all those years ago.

Obviously you can't make accusations without hard evidence even if it's fairly easy to work out who was where at the time, but it could be someone who's on the current Welsh Government front bench. This has some way to go yet.

I wish i shared you optimism, i don't see this getting much more attention from the public or political establishment sadly, interesting is waning.

And even if the WAO report names Government Minister’s they won’t resign or be sacked and you can guarantee there won’t be enough evidence for any police charges over the fraud.

And they wonder why people are so cynical and disinterested in politics.

6There is a body of interest still watching this We all know who supported AWEMA and ignored the warnings,There is .more than one minister involved and they need to acknowledge their role. The public would think a lot more of them .
The WG needs to realise that's exactly what it is - all Wales,Not Swansea or Cardiff etc .

I agree that the silence is deafening, especially as austin and Malik being called evasive. Meetings in peoples houses and Austin stating that Malik was disciplined by her and the trustees. Well there was only her and the two who stayed after the walk out. Reading the Wales on Line piece, for me, really shows up the cronyism. This should not go quietly into the political night!

we all know who the culprits Valleys Mam, and if they had any shame they would own up to their part in this and admit their mistakes but they won't and will get away with it.

Well said Gary, this whole thing stinks and this saga should not go gentle in to the political night.
